Terms of Service
Effective November 2, 2026 · Last updated November 2, 2026
Please read these terms. They include an agreement to resolve disputes by individual arbitration instead of in court or as part of a class action, with a way to opt out within 30 days. They also limit our liability. MAAT is a budgeting tool, not financial advice.
1. Agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and Perpetual Hive LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“we”, “us”), and cover the MAAT app on any device, the website at monthatatime.com, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
2. Who can use MAAT
You must be at least 18, live in the United States, and be able to make a binding contract. You’ll give accurate account information and keep it up to date.
3. Your account and household
- Keep your password and devices secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at security@monthatatime.com if you think someone else has used it.
- When you join or invite someone to a household, everyone in it can see and change the household’s shared information. Only invite people you trust. The household owner can remove members.
- Only add information you have the right to add, including information about other people and accounts.
4. Not financial advice
MAAT helps you organize and plan your money. It is not a bank, lender, broker, investment adviser, tax preparer or credit counselor, and it doesn’t hold or move your money. Balances, forecasts, “safe to spend” amounts, alerts, insights, suggestions and plans are estimates based on the information available to the Service, which may be incomplete, delayed or wrong. They are general information, not financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and not a recommendation for any particular action. You’re responsible for your financial decisions. Check important numbers with your bank, and talk to a qualified professional for advice about your situation.
5. Banks and other services
Bank linking is provided by Plaid Inc. and your financial institutions, which are independent of us. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, including the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. We don’t control and aren’t responsible for their availability, accuracy or actions, including missing, late or incorrect balances and transactions. Bank links may pause or stop, for example after 30 days without opening the app.
6. Free trial, plans and payment
- New households get a free 30-day trial with everything included; no payment details are needed for it. After the trial, adding accounts by hand and importing files remain free.
- Paid plans, when offered, are bought and billed through Google Play or the App Store and renew automatically at the price and interval shown at purchase until you cancel. Cancel any time in the store’s subscription settings on the device you used; cancelling stops the next renewal.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play or the App Store under their policies.
- We may change prices or plan features with advance notice. A price change applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
7. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the Service. For example, don’t: break the law or anyone’s rights; access accounts or data that aren’t yours; probe, scan or test the Service’s security without permission (report issues to security@monthatatime.com instead); interfere with or overload the Service; scrape it, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows; use it to send spam or harmful content; or post content in feature requests that is unlawful, abusive or infringing.
8. Your content
You own the information you add. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run, secure and improve the Service for you and your household, as described in our Privacy Policy. Feature requests, ideas and feedback you send may be used by us freely, without payment or obligation to you.
9. Our rights
The Service, the MAAT name, logo and feather icon, and our software and content belong to Perpetual Hive LLC and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service under these Terms. Other names and trademarks belong to their owners and don’t imply endorsement.
10. Changes to the Service
We’re constantly improving MAAT, so features may be added, changed or removed. We may also suspend the Service for maintenance. If we discontinue the Service, we’ll give reasonable notice when we can, so you can export your data.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if needed to protect users or the Service, or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 4, 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15) survive.
12. Disclaimers
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. WE DON’T WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, THAT INFORMATION IN IT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE, OR THAT ALERTS, REMINDERS OR NOTIFICATIONS WILL BE DELIVERED ON TIME OR AT ALL. Some states don’t allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW: (A) PERPETUAL HIVE LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES AND AGENTS WON’T BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OVERDRAFT OR LATE FEES, INTEREST, PENALTIES, OR FINANCIAL DECISIONS MADE USING THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY; AND (B) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US $50. These limits apply whatever the legal theory and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They don’t limit liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud or gross negligence where that rule applies.
14. Indemnity
To the extent allowed by law, you’ll defend and hold us harmless from third-party claims, losses and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your breaking these Terms or the law.
15. Resolving disputes: individual arbitration and class action waiver
Talk to us first. Most concerns can be solved quickly. Before starting any claim, email hello@monthatatime.com with your name, account email, a description of the problem and what you want. We’ll try in good faith to resolve it within 60 days.
Arbitration. If we can’t resolve it, you and we agree that any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, instead of in court, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either of us may ask a court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. The arbitrator decides all issues except whether the class action waiver is enforceable, which a court decides. Arbitration may be held by video or phone, or in the county where you live. We’ll pay the AAA filing, administration and arbitrator fees for claims under $10,000 unless the arbitrator finds the claim frivolous.
No class actions. YOU AND WE MAY BRING CLAIMS ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS, NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION, AND THERE WILL BE NO JURY TRIAL. If this class action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim will go to court, not arbitration.
Opting out. You can opt out of this section within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms by emailing hello@monthatatime.com with the subject “Arbitration opt-out” from your account’s email. Opting out doesn’t affect the rest of these Terms.
Time limit. To the extent allowed by law, any claim must be brought within one year after it arises.
16. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. For any claim that isn’t arbitrated, you and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts in Wyoming, except that you may bring a claim in small claims court where you live. This doesn’t take away any protection you have under the consumer laws of the state where you live.
17. General
- Changes to these Terms: we’ll post changes here and update the date. For material changes, we’ll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service afterward means you accept them. Changes to section 15 won’t apply to disputes already started.
- Whole agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability: if any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver: not enforcing a term isn’t a waiver of it.
- Assignment: you can’t transfer these Terms; we can, as part of a merger, sale or reorganization.
- App stores: if you got the app from Google Play or the App Store, their terms also apply. Apple and Google aren’t parties to these Terms and aren’t responsible for the app or its support, but Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them.
- Notices: we may send notices to your account’s email or in the app. Send notices to us at hello@monthatatime.com.
